Hydro International #1 - 2026
Around the world with the new edition of Hydro International
From the national 3D Coastal Mapping Programme in New Zealand, to the design, development and commissioning of the Netherlands’ brand-new flagship research vessel, this edition of Hydro International takes you on a journey across the globe.
And that’s just the beginning. We also explore the mapping of Northern Ireland’s coastal zone using airborne Lidar bathymetry, and then head south to Belgium, where multibeam echosounders are being deployed to precisely determine the depth and the shape of shipwrecks. Much further south is the Weddell Sea, where the German research vessel Polarstern is investigating a rapidly changing polar environment. This truly is an edition spanning the world.
In addition, you will find an article outlining ways in which the S-100 framework can unlock true autonomy for USVs, and an overview of the four candidates who are nominated for the positions of secretary general and/or director at the IHO.
On behalf of the editorial team at Hydro International, we wish you a very pleasant and enlightening read.
