500 Acoustic Modems for Offshore Oilfield Projects

LinkQuest, USA, has been busy producing around 500 underwater acoustic modems for offshore oilfield applications. Recently, a large number of long-range deepwater acoustic modems were selected for seabed seismic monitoring applications. These modems will be used to interface with seismic sensors to monitor and explore offshore oil and gas field reservoirs in large-scale deployments.

Dozens of UWM2000 and UWM4000 modems were selected for communication between surface ship/platform and downhole oilfield tools in offshore oil field projects. Several dozens of UWM2000H omni-directional and directional acoustic modems were also selected for monitoring critical sensor information from FPSO. LinkQuest's underwater acoustic modems have been extensively used in the offshore oil fields worldwide.

Over years, experience has been garnered with regard to the application details, noise and multipath conditions, and acoustic instrument interference avoidance. LinkQuest produces a large number of these devices, designed for optimal performance under various application scenarios. Based on LinkQuest's experience in offshore oilfield applications and competence in theoretical analysis, LinkQuest has closely worked with its customers to select specific acoustic modem models most suitable for the application, aiming to optimise system performance and increase overall system reliability.
