Acta Marine Names Second Walk-to-work Support Vessel

In a ceremony at Südkai Emden, Germany, Godmother Mrs Ingelore Hering of the Lower Saxony Ministry for the Environment, Energy, Building and Climate Protection has officially named Acta Marine's second walk-to-work support vessel, 'Acta Auriga'Many guests attended the festivities and the tours on board the brand-new vessel, which is named 'Auriga' after one of the stellar constellations in the northern hemisphere. Since May 2018, 'Acta Auriga' is being deployed as operations and maintenance vessel for Ocean Breeze Energy’s (OBE) 400Mw offshore windfarm, BARD Offshore 1.

Acta Auriga and its experienced crew support OBE’s offshore operations by providing safe transfer of technicians and cargo to the wind turbines on a 24/7 and year-round basis, often in challenging weather and sea conditions that occur at the windfarm location 80km offshore in the German Bight.

Sister vessel

Acta Auriga, a jointly developed Ulstein SX195 design features an SMST 3D-compensated gangway and 3D-crane as well as the special Ulstein X-BOW and X-STERN that optimise the overall seakeeping and workability of the vessel. In addition, Acta Auriga’s state of the art hotel facilities, accommodating up to 120 persons, takes staying offshore for the technicians and crew to a whole new level.

Acta Marine has a sister vessel to Acta Auriga under construction at Ulstein Verft for delivery early 2019. “With the walk-to-work construction support vessels Acta Orion, Acta Auriga and the new build under construction, Acta Marine is well positioned to support the offshore wind industry going forward,” said Rob Boer, managing director at Acta “Building on our long track record as owner and operator of a 40 unit fleet of multicats, tugs and crew transfer vessels Acta is keen to further extend our services toward the offshore industry at large”.
