Admiralty World ENC Database Expanding

The UK Hydrographic Office's Admiralty ENC and ECDIS services continue their major expansion with over 6,500 ENC cells now available worldwide and with a further 1,000 cells scheduled to be added by the end of the year.

Regular updates on the number of ENCs available worldwide indicate steady growth as contributing nations continue to increase coverage of their waters and new nations make their ENCs available.

All data received is added to the ENC database and Base or Update Exchange Sets are made available through the UKHO's Value Added Reseller (VAR) and distributed to the mariner weekly as part of our commitment to ensure safe navigation.

As the world ENC database grows, so does the ongoing maintenance effort required to issue the very latest ENCs at all times and this is where the strong international partnerships between Hydrographic Offices are vital, ensuring that the mariner always has access to the very latest safety critical information.

In excess of 600 cells comprising nearly ten percent of all existing ENC data available have been re-issued again this week, ensuring Admiralty customers are always fully up-to-date as new data comes on stream with ENCs they can trust.
