AML’s Moving Vessel Profiler Selected for New Chinese Icebreaker

The Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC) has chosen AML Oceanographic’s MVP300 as the profiling system for its new icebreaker, Xuelong 2. “We chose MVP300 to collect high-density real-time CTD profiles without stopping the vessel. The MVP system also allows us to collect other scientific data such as chlorophyll A, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity. We will achieve better-quality data and save valuable vessel time,” said Shuoren Wang, project director.

With numerous expedition objectives ranging from climate change research to natural resource studies, the MVP will be a critical system in support of realising the icebreaker’s mandate. “Xuelong 2 is equipped with state-of-the-art ocean scientific research equipment," noted Mr Wang.

This is the second contract for the deep-water, underway profiler MVP300 secured through AML’s local agent, Laurel Technologies Company of Hong Kong, within the last four months.
