Applanix Product Integration

Applanix has incorporated MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology into its line of Position and Orientation System products. The state-of-the-art, low-noise, micro-machined quartz components are compact, durable and designed for use in a high-vibration environment. The custom-designed sensors are at the forefront of MEMS technology, manufactured by BEI Systron Donner Inertial Division (SDID) of Concord, California, US, a division of BEI Technologies, Inc. SDID solid-state sensors are micro-machined using photolithographic processes, producing components comparable to small ring laser and fibre-optic gyros. Applanix chose the SDID system over competing technologies because of the high-precision requirements of their POS products and SDID expertise in micro-machined technology manufacture.
