Australasian Hydrographic Society Pre-AOG Technical Presentations

The Australasian Hydrographic Society Western Region Pre-AOG meeting was held during prior to the Australia Oil & Gas (AOG) exhibition in Perth, Australia. The meeting had over 65 attendees, mostly from Australia, with a few number of welcome oversees visitors as well. The Symposium was chaired by Phil Wells, Chairman of the WA region with generous support from two sponsors Cathx Oceans and iXBlue.

The presentations theme was focused on the subsea photogrammetry and point cloud data accuracy. Adrian Boyle from Cathx had a scientific and operational presentation on the developments of subsea laser technology and highlight some of the existing and upcoming applications of this technology. Quentin Teo from iXBlue had a brilliant presentation about the elected sensors and software to enable highly accurate real world positioning of subsea point cloud data.

During the Symposium, the AHS WAR Chairman announced that there will be joint events organised by AHS and SSSI within the various regional offices around the Australia in the Future. The first one which will be held in Brisbane will a seminar covering the different methods of acquisition and processing of the tidal data. An open forum will be held during the seminar discussing the transferring LAT vs harmonic analysis to derive LAT. This seminar is titled “Blame it on Tide”.
