Chief Hydrographer Appointed in the Royal Netherlands Navy

On 1st September 2011, Captain F. (Floor) de Haan handed over his position as chief hydrographer of the Royal Netherlands Navy to Captain N. (Peter) Kortenoeven. Captain Kortenoeven had previously been working as staff officer maritime planning at NATO in Brussels since 2009.  

 

Captain de Haan has occupied the function of chief hydrographer for more than 5 years. De Haan's new position will be deputy director of communications.

 

The Hydrographic office of the Royal Netherlands Navy has been charged by the government with the issue of official nautical charts (paper and digital) and hydrographic publications. The Hydrographic office furthermore advises national and international authorities on nautical cartography, geodesy, tides, positioning and maritime boundaries.
