Commodore Jha takes charge of INS Venduruthy

Commodore S. Jha took over as the Naval Officer-in-charge of Kerala, from Commodore A.T. Lucose at an impressive parade held in the Naval Base here. Commissioned into the Naval Service in 1978, Commodore Jha is a specialist Hydrographer.  

He had commanded survey ships INS Nirdeshak and INS Nirupak before. He was the Officer-in-Charge of Hydrographic School and the Chief Hydrographer/Chief Ports Officer to the Maharashtra Government.

He was an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College and the Naval War College. A recipient of the 'Nao Sena Medal (Gallantry)' , he was the Principal Director of Hydrography at the Naval Headquarters and Co-Chairman of Indo-Mauritius Hydrographic Committee, prior to taking up this appointment.
