Data Management System Order for Werum

The German shipyard company Krüger Werft has placed an order with Werum Software & Systems to equip the new German research vessel Maria S. Merian with their data management system DAVIS-SHIP. Werum will carry out the job of planning and implementing the onboard scientific network and mail system. The research vessel is still under construction, but is intended to be put into service at the end of 2004.
Once in service the vessel will be based with the Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemuende (IOW) and be operated for marine research. Thanks to her construction it is no problem for the Maria S. Merian to cruise ice edge areas. This new vessel is being jointly funded by the Federal States of Schleswig-Holstein, Bremen, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and also by Germany’s Federal Ministry for Education and Research.
