Deep Ocean Engineering's Contribution to Digital Preservation Recognised

Deep Ocean Engineering has received a letter from the Historic Hawaii Foundation in recognition of its outstanding efforts during the USS 'Arizona' Digital Preservation Project. The efforts of all contributors, including Deep Ocean Engineering, will be acknowledged with the Preservation Commendation Award at the Historic Hawaii Foundation’s 2017 Preservation Honor Awards Ceremony. The event will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, on 19 May 2017.

This project received the award for the combined use of digital technologies, including use of the digital Phantom H-1750 unmanned surface vehicle platform, fitted with multibeam sonar, to create a baseline dataset and computer model of the submerged USS Arizona for historic preservation and public outreach. The USS Arizona documentation project will serve as an example for similar digital documentation of other submerged historic sites in the future. Deep Ocean Engineering expressed its honour at being included as a recipient of this prestigious and historic award.
