EDI Releases CHIRP Sonar Tester

EDI has released the DSTS-5A/2C computer-controlled CHIRP and fixed sonar test set. Developed for technicians and engineers alike, the DSTS-5A/2C is a solution for test, evaluation and design of depth sounders and sonar systems. The DSTS-5A/2C emulates bottom echoes as well as fish echoes and allows the user to vary depth, reply level, period, pulse width and fish arcs.

Interfaced through an RS-232 port, signal variables are controlled using the supplied Windows and Linux applications. Measurements of the pulse are displayed on the computer and commands can be sent over any terminal interface, this allows batch-scripts for automated testing suites to be created.

The DSTS-5A/2C can also work autonomously without a PC, sweeping depth and reply level for quick and easy tests. Capable of working from 1.5-500kHz while tracking the frequency and pulse width, this test set makes the DSTS-5A/2C a cohesive solution for depth sounder production developers and repair technicians serving the marine industries.
