Enhanced 2200-S for AUVs
EdgeTech has added a new dual-frequency 300/600kHz high-resolution side-scan option to its existing 2200-S Integrated System for small AUVs. The EdgeTech 2200-S is now offered with full-spectrum (‘chirp’) dual frequency 120/410kHz or 300/600kHz side-scan sonar. The 2200-S processor transmits long, wide bandwidth pulses that result in higher resolution images and greater signal to noise ratio, resulting in extended range. The system also has a 4-24kHz full-spectrum sub-bottom profiler with a number of selectable pulses available within that range. By changing the centre frequency of the pulse it is possible to adjust the penetration and resolution of the sub-bottom profiler. The EdgeTech 2200-S is controlled by the AUV via an Ethernet link and uses less than 30 watts of power. It is typically used for, but not limited to, MCM (Mine Counter Measures), geo-hazard, geological/geophysical, pipeline/cable route and search-surveys.
