Experience Innovation with Fugro at Oceanology International 2016

Fugro will utilise its exhibition stand at Oceanology International 2016 (from 15-17 March, London, UK) to shine a spotlight on new technological developments that support the offshore oil and gas industry and offshore wind farm developments. Visitors to the stand, D100, will see how the company’s investment in technology continues to deliver innovations for long-term sustainability.

With a sharp focus on cost efficiency, safety and ease of operation, a wide range of technology is in the spotlight. Features include Fugro’s new ‘virtual surveyor’ service - OARS - which eliminates the requirement for a surveyor to be present onboard vessels operating offshore, thanks to the remote set-up at Fugro’s command centre. For current-sensitive offshore operations, the benefits of the new ROCIS airborne technology will be detailed, with Fugro’s experts on hand to discuss a recent project that characterised conditions in the US Gulf of Mexico.

Control of Monopiles and Jackets

Delivering specific benefits to developers of offshore wind farms, 3Direct enhances safety and operational control during lifting and lowering of structural components of monopiles and jackets. Visitors will see how advanced vision-based technology determines the position, elevation, inclination and heading of the monopile or jacket in real-time.

For offshore hydrocarbon exploration Fugro’s seeps experts deliver cost reducing solutions. As a result of their pioneering methodologies for mapping, interpreting and sampling marine seeps, exploration risks can be lowered and understanding of prospects is improved.

Fugro’s exhibition stand will also illustrate innovative developments such as NorthStar - for an asset-wide overview that can improve the performance and efficiency of floating production systems - SEADEVIL® and Starfix® global positioning.

Conference Stream

OI 2016’s technical programme includes a marine renewables conference stream which is co-chaired by Tony Hodgson, Fugro’s global business development manager, Renewable Energy. The wider conference programme features a number of Fugro papers, with subject experts exploring offshore surface positioning, surveying on a cloudy day and techniques for using subsea Lidar. Other topics will examine a revitalised seismic service and explain methods for unexploded ordnance detection, whilst new technology for mapping ocean surface current conditions over wide areas will be revealed in ROCIS.

Game Element

Also on Fugro’s agenda is the ‘pairs-match’ game which brings a fun element to the exhibition stand and awards a prize for each day’s winner.
