Eye4Software Releases Hydrographic Survey Software Package

Eye4Software, The Netherlands, has announced that the latest version of its hydrographic survey package, Hydromagic version 5.2, has been released to the public. The main purpose of this software is to map the bottom of a river, reservoir or ocean in 3D, by using a (D)GPS or RTK positioning system combined with an echosounder or fishfinder.

Once data acquisition has been completed, the sounding can, if needed, be filtered and corrected using the built-in sounding editor. The corrected sounding can be used to generate a number of final products, like a digital terrain model or DTM, volume calculation, cross sections, depth contours, Google Earth overlay, DXF AutoCAD file and more.

The software supports multiple map formats, including some nautical map formats, such as S57/S63 ENC and GIS formats like GeoTIFF, Esri Shape and Mapinfo files. CAD drawings generated with either Microstation or AutoCAD (DXF) can also be used. The software is shipped with more than 5000 built-in local map projections, which allows you to use it at almost any place on Earth.

In this latest version Eye4Software addressed all feedback received from its resellers over the last 3 months, as well as other new features. A complete list of new features can be found in the 'Release Notes' section on their website.

The software can now be used to collect and process dual frequency sounding data, as well as additional sensor data, such as magnetometer data, or advanced data from echosounders, like reflectivity or bottom-loss. Another improvement is the use of shorelines. Shorelines can be used to add data collected near the shore, to create islands or to clip your DTM data, just by specifying on which side of the shoreline the water is.

For those who want to perform their survey by using planned lines, it is now possible to calculate a DTM or depth contours from multiple soundings or shorelines.
