FIG, IHO and ISPRS Support Young Geo-Professional Magazine

The International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) have declared their support for the Young Geo-Professional magazine initiative by sponsoring the project.

The publication, called Young Geo Professional, will position geomatics and hydrography as an attractive and fascinating field. Further, it will make the young people aware of the wide scale of fields of application and future job possibilities.

Vice Admiral A. Maratos, president of the International Hydrographic Bureau (IHO office) commented: "Almost everything that happens at sea depends on some level of hydrographic information. One of the aims of the International Hydrographic Organization, as the peak world body dealing with hydrograhic standardization and capacity building, is to increase awareness of the fundamental value of hydrography and its related geospatial sciences. We believe Young Geo Professional magazine will help do that".

Durk Haarsma, publisher at Reed Business Geo said, “We are very pleased with the support from the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG), the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) and the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS). All three organizations are major international Societies in the field of Geomatics and Hydrography, and with this sponsorship they recognize the need to promote the Geomatics and Hydrography field under youngsters and thereby the importance for a Young Geo-Professional magazine.

The International Federation of Surveyors is an international, non-government organization whose purpose is to support international collaboration for the progress of surveying in all fields and applications.

The International Hydrographic Organization is an intergovernmental consultative and technical organisation established in 1921 to support the safety in navigation and the protection of the marine environment.

The International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing, is a non-governmental organization devoted to promote international collaboration for the advancement of knowledge, research, development, education and training in the photogrammetry, remote sensing and spatial information sciences.
