First ISO-compliant Databases

NECSA (The Navigational Electronic Charts System Association) has confirmed that two ECS databases, both published by C-MAP, have been tested and found to be in compliance with ISO 19379. The certified databases, CM-93/3 and NT-Link, were tested by Det Norske Veritas, the international marine classification and type-approval agency. These are the first databases to comply with the ISO standard. The next accomplishment will be the achievement of legal status for those electronic charts made from databases that are in compliance with the ISO standard, NECSA’s current goal.
