Fugro Supports Ocean Careers Event With Industry Professionals

Fugro, headquartered in The Netherlands, is underpinning its continuing support for career development in marine science, ocean technology and offshore industries by participating in this year’s Ocean Careers event taking place alongside Ocean Business. The event brings together industry professionals, including oceanographers, geophysicists and hydrographic surveyors, with those seeking advice on ocean careers.

On Wednesday, 10th April, Katy Pozerskis, a Project Oceanographer with Fugro GEOS, will present an insight into her professional experiences. ‘From Ship to Shore – An Oceanographer’s Tale’ will give a flavour of what’s involved in being an oceanographer today. Later that day Sorcha McCarthy makes the first of her two appearances at the Ocean Careers event with her industry presentation. Sorcha is a Tendering Project Manager at Fugro Survey in Aberdeen and will talk about the career journey that took her offshore. As well as some of the many adventures and occasional pitfalls along the way, she will describe her exciting and sometimes demanding career as a hydrographic surveyor. Sorcha will also host one of the ‘Speedy Sessions’ - 10-minute speed meetings where students can meet face-to-face with industry professionals to find out all they need to know about the industry, from qualifications to lifestyle!

Throughout the three-day Ocean Business exhibition, representatives from Fugro Survey, Fugro Pelagos and Fugro Subsea Services will be in the main exhibition hall (stand H1) to discuss their nearshore and offshore survey services along with the wide range of subsea services. Details of current job opportunities will be available in the recruitment area of the stand with information and advice for prospective applicants. On the dockside, at stand V7, Fugro Satellite Positioning will focus on their high accuracy positioning solutions for marine applications.

The co-located Offshore Survey Conference, on 10th and 11th April, will open with a keynote address given by Rob Luijnenburg, Fugro’s Corporate Strategy and Communication Director and will include Fugro presentations on both days.
