GAS to Provide Survey Services during Pipelay Installation

GAS (Geological Assistance & Services), Italy, has been awarded a long-term contract from SAIPEM to provide offshore survey services on board the dive-support vessel Akademik Tofik Ismayilov. The work will be performed during the installation of the export and infield pipelines for the Stage II development of the Shah Deniz field, which will ultimately deliver gas to Europe from Azerbaijan.

The field is located 90km offshore Azerbaijan, in water depths between 75m and 550m. The contract’s scope of work includes touch down monitoring during the pipelay, as-laid, as-built and out-of-straightness surveys over 360km of pipelines.

Since 2012, GAS has built a solid presence in the area and this contract award consolidates its position as one of the main contractors for survey and positioning services in the offshore sector of the Caspian Sea, a strategic area for the oil and gas industry. In Baku, GAS has a 24-hours operative office, with a pull of professional staff comprising of geologists, geophysicists, surveyors, engineers, LBL technicians and a full spread of survey equipment which includes, but are not limited to, the latest technologies of LBL underwater acoustic equipment, ROVs and AUV.
