Geo Century And DOF Subsea to Consolidate Subsea Capability

Aberdeen-based deep water survey and positioning company Geo Century and sister company DOF Subsea UK Limited have joined forces to consolidate their subsea capability. The amalgamated company will operate as DOF Subsea UK Limited with immediate effect.

Geo Century became part of the DOF Subsea group in 2005, when the company Century Subsea Ltd was acquired by DOF Subsea ASA.  Following the acquisition, Century Subsea Ltd, which was established in Aberdeen in 2000, with its US and Canadian subsidiaries opening in 2001 and 2004 respectively, changed its name to Geo Century Ltd.

Ciaran O'Donnell, who recently moved into the role of Managing Director of DOF Subsea UK, heads the company, which will operate from Geo Century's premises in Commerce Street, Aberdeen. Ian Valentine, former Managing Director of Geo Century will continue to run the day to day business as General Manager, and former CEO Mark Vorenkamp, will be involved in the delivery of special strategic projects.

Geo Century's US and Canadian subsidiaries Geo Century Inc (USA) in Houston, and Geo Century Corp (Canada) in St John's, will now operate as DOF Subsea USA Inc and DOF Subsea Canada Corp respectively.

O'Donnell, who was previously Managing Director of DOF Subsea's project management and engineering company CSL, plans to use the well-established Geo Century business as a strong foundation upon which to build a company that offers the entire range of DOF Subsea services from the UK, US and Canada, including survey, IRM, construction support and subsea engineering.

DOF Subsea UK has also identified opportunities for growth in the moorings design and build, deep water construction support, survey and AUV markets, and will target these areas going forward.

Working closely with DOF Subsea's head office in Norway, the primary focus for the businesses in Aberdeen, Houston and St John's is on supporting developments in the North Sea, Mediterranean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and West Africa.

Commenting on plans for the next 12 months, O'Donnell adds, "Our objective for the coming year is to get out, meet with all our clients and demonstrate to them our broad subsea capability and scope of services. With DOF Subsea's team of over 1200 professionals we possess a very compelling combination of people know-how, a fleet of 23 state of the art vessels and high quality equipment that enable us to perform all deep water survey, IRM and construction support activities.
