GEOxyz Presents New Hybrid Survey Vessel

The acquisition of the offshore survey vessel Geo Ocean VI marks the next step in the expansion of the offshore survey capacities of GEOxyz, the Belgium-based geodata specialist.

With a focus on delivering next-generation geodata acquisition solutions, the GEOxyz Group is strategically investing in its offshore survey fleet. With the acquisition of the hybrid propulsion vessel Geo Ocean VI, GEOxyz is further specializing in providing greener, more sustainable and smarter solutions for hydrographic, geophysical and geotechnical surveys.

Equipped with a fully integrated launch and recovery system, the vessel is also ready to act as mother vessel for hydrographic survey ASVs. This creates a flexible all-round platform that is cost and operationally efficient and that can easily meet today and tomorrow’s offshore survey requirements.

Patrick Reyntjens, founder and CEO of GEOxyz: “GEOxyz is committed to taking up its responsibility in ensuring the sustainable development of the blue economy. This addition to the fleet illustrates that mission, enabling us to provide a greener and smarter service to clients. Adding an additional vessel to our fleet also allows us to continue to grow as an offshore geodata specialist while securing the availability of vessels meeting our highest technical and safety standards.”

Multitude of Survey Operations

The Geo Ocean VI, built in 2014, was originally designed as a seismic support vessel and can be run under four propulsion modes, including full electrical mode during survey operations. With an overall length of 53.80m and a deck area of approx. 230m² at 5t/m², the vessel has a large deck area and crane coverage turning it into a flexible platform capable of performing a multitude of survey operations.

Furthermore, the vessel is equipped with a fully integrated launch and recovery system of 10t lifting capacity at 30m/min enabling it to launch and recover autonomous surface vehicles. In addition, a large 5t A-frame will be installed at the aft.

This makes the Geo Ocean VI a green and versatile multidisciplinary offshore survey vessel, fitted for geophysical as well as geotechnical survey work. She will be permanently equipped with specifically selected survey equipment and ready to serve the offshore industry.
