IMarEST in the Offshore Industry

Experts from the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) welcome the opportunity to explain the extensive services the Institute offers both individuals and companies involved in the offshore oil and gas industry when it exhibits at ONS 2008 from 26 to 29 August 2008.

Within the offshore sector individual IMarEST members include professionals involved in a wide rang of activity including oil and gas exploration and production; environmental and risk analysis and management; subsea engineering and technology; renewables - offshore wind, wave and tidal; hydrography; oceanography; supply and dive support vessels; geology; geophysics; naval architecture; vessel support throughout the offshore fleet; infrastructure development; decommissioning; research and development; all engineering disciplines; law; insurance; and training and development.

"Dr Paul Jukes, Principal Engineer, JP Kenny describes how gaining professional recognition as a Chartered Engineer (CEng) has helped him progress his career both as a design engineer and as a project engineer; and Ian Leggett, Head of Metocean Services, Shell UK Exploration and Production explains that ‘The potential for Shell staff to attain professional recognition (CMarSci, CEng, CMarTech) is important for individuals in terms of their personal and professional credibility and standing, and their ongoing development. Competency Based Development is a key enabler for people to progress within Shell. Ben Saunders, our Education & Training Co-ordinator will be on the stand at ONS to explain the role that our Institute can play in these vital areas."
