Inspection Class ROV SIRIO+ Presented

The ROV Sirio+ from Ageotec (Italy) is a small size system, based on the architecture of the popular inspection class Sirio, albeit with power delivered by four brushless thrusters of 450W each that make it suitable to operate in strong currents and in other tough situations. The three cameras allow technicians to inspect the artifacts at the front, at the back and also to observe the areas above the vehicle, all simultaneously.

Despite its compact size, ROV Sirio+ has been provided with an integrated altimeter, sonar beacon USBL and Panorama, which allow it to make extremely precise positioning and to work in muddy water conditions. Its powerful thrusters allow for a payload of more than 14kg and therefore offer the possibility of adding survey skids with multibeam echo sounders, sidescan sonar and even a three-functions manipulator.

Underwater Artifacts Inspection

The ROV has been designed to satisfy the specific requests of its customer Enel (the public traded company leader in production and international distribution of electricity and gas) and will use this equipment for the inspection of underwater artifacts, dams, reservoirs and pipelines belonging to its power plants and facilities spread across Europe, North and South America. Ageotec is considering the standardisation of the ROV Sirio+.

Ageotec organized two days of training in Olgiate Comasco to present ROV Sirio+ to customers. Enel technicians were able to study the system in detail together with Ageotec’s Customer Support team and to perform the first tests, gaining familiarity with the new machine.

Ageotec’s newest product will be formally christened in October during the opening ceremony of the new manufacturing plant in Bologna.
