Liverpool Port Development Survey Completed

A Geo-Environmental investigation on behalf of Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, as part of the Liverpool 2 container terminal development, has been completed by Coastline Surveys, UK. The survey data and samples will provide marine sediment quality information and chemical analysis including dissipation tests.

The survey comprised of 48 Vibrocores and 18 CPTs from the river Mersey approach channel and Seaforth Triangle, and was completed onboard multi-role survey vessel, MV Flatholm. The work scope was completed efficiently and to schedule, with good penetration achieved using Coastline’s High powered Vibrocore - C-COREHP and Datem 5000 CPT unit.

The project further emphasised FlatHolm ‘s ability to successfully perform near shore Geotechnical operations.

The Liverpool 2 Development will provide an in river terminal capable of accommodating larger vessels than can currently transit the existing port entrance lock system. The facility is expected to be completed in 2015.
