LOPC Order from Dalhousie University
ODIM Brooke Ocean has received an order for the delivery of an ODIM LOPC to the Biology Department of Dalhousie University. The ODIM LOPC will be used by Dr. Tamara Romanuk for measuring detailed size and shape outlines of zooplankton thereby allowing for the compositional structure of communities to be determined. It will be used for both preserved and live plankton samples.
The resolution was specified to be 40 microns with an average operating profile of 100 microns up to ~5mm (or lower resolution). The ODIM LOPC being delivered will function in a laboratory environment for use with a turn-key circulation system in order to analyze both discrete and online (continuous) samples.
The ODIM LOPCTM is the next generation in plankton profiling. The LOPC's high speed processing and improved detection plane provides detection counts at higher resolutions and higher concentrations with lower coincidence. They system can be installed on various towbody scenarios as well as on the ODIM MVPTM multi sensor free fall fish, enabling vertical real-time water column profiling while underway at speeds up to 12 knots.
