MARID V to Take Place in North Wales

Marine and River Dune Dynamics Conference V (MARID V) is the fifth edition of the international conference series organised every four years and related to Marine and River Dune Dynamics. The next edition is to take place from 4-6 April 2016 in North Wales, UK. The precise location for the conference and field trip will be announced in 2015, as will a call for abstracts and a list of keynote speakers.

Since its initiation, the conference has combined expertise from a variety of disciplines including geology, engineering, hydrography and biology, with results derived from observations, modelling and experiments. The conference is open to all professionals and stakeholders dealing with bedform dynamics and will give access to cutting edge science and real-life examples. Networking opportunities are provided with scientists, practitioners, industry, software developers, policy advisors and managers from all over the world. The Organising Committee for MARID V consists of Dr. Katrien Van Landeghem and Dr. Jaco Baas (School of Ocean Sciences – Bangor University, Menai Bridge, Wales).

Institutions aiming to become a sponsor of MARIDV, are requested to contact the Organising Committee through email.

The French Naval Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service (SHOM) has piloted the series after its initiation in 1998 during a meeting of the North Sea Hydrographic Commission. Following the successes of Lille (France), Twente (the Netherlands), Leeds (UK) and Bruges (Belgium), MARID V will be held in the Snowdonia Mountains and Coastal region of North Wales (UK), from 4 to 6 April 2016.
