Marine Division Reed Exhibitions Appoints Ralph Rayner
Dr Ralph Rayner joined Reed Exhibitions as Chairman of its Marine division. He will take a role in the strategic development of all Reed Exhibitions' marine portfolio including the global ocean forum Oceanology International. He officially took up his role on 1 October 2006. Throughout his professional career, Dr. Rayner has been engaged in the commercial provision of environmental and oceanographic products and services. In parallel with his commercial career he has played an active part in the marine science and technology community through membership of professional associations, committees and working groups, lecturing and authorship of technical and scientific books and papers. Dr Rayner currently holds key positions associated with the advancement of global operational oceanography, including serving on the Scientific Steering Committee for the Global Ocean Observing System (GOOS), and various committees of the Group on Earth Observation and the European Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) initiative. He chairs the Marine Information Alliance, is a Vice-President of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology and is a member of the Executive Council of the Association of Marine Scientific Industries.
