New ARCS Malaysia

Shipping lines operating in Malaysian waters can now take advantage of new official digital chart coverage just released through the British Admiralty raster chart service ARCS. The 32 new ARCS charts of the region provide up-to-date comprehensive coverage of Malaysian sea lanes and ports. They are a key element in a major initiative by the UK-based chart producer to work more closely with other hydrographic offices around the world to improve availability and accessibility of official digital chart coverage in both vector and raster formats. The new Malaysian charts cover ports and waters around the Peninsular Malaysia, the Malaysian territories of Saba and Sarawak, the Malacca Straits and the South China Sea. All major ports are now covered, including the Cruise terminal at Langkawi, Pinang (Georgetown) in the north, and the busy feeder port of Klang near Kuala Lumpur, the oil port of Kerteh and general cargo port of Kuantan on the east coast. The newly established but rapidly growing port of Tanjung Pelepas is charted electronically for the first time.
