New Metoc and UK Hydrographic Office Service
Metoc pls, in collaboration with the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO), has announced a new data service for the marine engineering and scientific community called SeaZone. The announcement was made in London at a seminar on marine and coastal GIS. Co-sponsored by Metoc and the UKHO, SeaZone makes data available to the marine scientist and engineer in a rich, GIS-friendly format. The new service combines UKHO data with data from Metoc and a range of other UK agencies, currently including the British Oceanographic Data Centre (BODC), the Joint Nature Conservation Council (JNCC), the Crown Estate and the Environment Agency. By providing a packaged dataset formatted and ready to use, GIS users are faciliated in obtaining data essential for their project.
