New SEA Swathplus Range
The Marine Division of the British-based SEA Group has a new range of wide-swath, shallow-water sonar: the SWATHplus. SEA acquired the rights to what was the Submetrix system in May 2001. Since then the company has invested in re-analysing the technology, applying its expertise in signal processing and compact electronics design to produce the new range. Expertise in software development has been used to complement the advanced SWATHplus hardware with similarly advanced control and display programmes.
Users will find that data acquisition is much less labour intensive. The extensive dynamic range of the sonar electronics enables the system to run all day on just the one power setting, with greater sea topography and detail displayed. New intelligent filters make the system far easier to learn and operate. In post-processing, 3D point cloud displays enable users to define vertical and mid-water targets, whilst new statistical analysis tools provide more data confidence.
