NOAA Contract for Fugro

Fugro Pelagos, Inc. has won a five-yea contract from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA-NOS), a bureau of the US Department of Commerce, to provide hydrographic surveying and related support services. The contract is not to exceed US$ 50,000,000.
An initial Task Order has begun, valued at just under US$ 6,000,000, for operations in remote portions of Alaska waters using multiple vessels and RESON 8111 and 8101 multi-beam echo sounder systems. Future operations may include multi-beam echo sounder, side-scan sonar and hydrographic Lidar anywhere in US waters, including Alaska, Hawaii, the Territories and Great Lakes areas. The contract is designed to help alleviate the backlog of charting requirements for updating navigation charts in US waters. It is also expected to complement NOAA’s concept that hydrography supports integrated ocean mapping. The initial award was a QBS (Qualifications Based Selection) process for these professional services.
