Ocean Business unveils highly promising technology training and demo programme

With Ocean Business 2025 approaching steadily, details of the much-anticipated Training and Demonstration Programme – one of the main attractions of this global technology and science exhibition for the marine industry – can now be revealed. This year’s programme is bigger than ever, showcasing the most exciting developments in the ocean sector with over 180 hours of hands-on demonstrations. Attendees will witness cutting-edge technologies in action across dockside waters, onboard vessels and in the classroom.

Visitors will have the chance to experience the latest high-end sensor technology up close and meet top industry innovators presenting advancements in underwater monitoring, next-generation ROVs, groundbreaking AUV technology, and much more. Taking place from 8–10 April at the National Oceanography Centre in Southampton, UK, this three-day event is free to attend with online registration available via the Ocean Business website.

Dockside demos and classroom sessions

Among the dockside highlights, Kongsberg Discovery and Saildrone will showcase their infrastructure inspection capabilities, using USVs and ROVs to deliver high-definition imaging for critical underwater infrastructure assessments. EvoLogics will demonstrate the latest enhancements to its Sonobot 5, including a submersible USBL antenna for acoustic data transfers and positioning. Additionally, the company’s latest iteration of the Quadroin AUV will make its debut in Southampton following final optimizations. Another key attraction is Unique Group’s UniMini, a compact carbon-fibre USV designed for hydrographic survey operations from land, minimizing risk while maximizing efficiency. And that’s just the beginning of what’s on display.

Onboard the RV Callista, the University of Southampton’s purpose-built research vessel, Navtech will introduce its latest radar technology, with engineers available to discuss the software solutions behind its tracking and collision-avoidance systems for uncrewed vessels. Also on board, visitors can explore Nortek’s advanced vessel-mounted acoustic doppler current profilers (ADCPs), designed for both commercial and scientific applications.

Meanwhile, test tank and classroom sessions will capture the rapid pace of technological innovation. Among them, Voyis will highlight the future of underwater exploration with the latest generation of its Discovery Stereo Vision System.

Ocean Business 2025 offers unparalleled access to today’s and tomorrow’s transformational ocean technologies, spanning sustainable environmental monitoring, advancements in robotics and developments in lean-crewed fleets. With over 350 manufacturers and service providers already confirmed for the sold-out exhibition, this year’s event is set to draw record-breaking crowds from across the globe, delivering exceptional networking opportunities.

Cheri Arvonio, event director at show organizer Diversified Communications, said: “Our popular Training and Demonstration Programme is back, packed with even more innovations, ideas and product launches from this dynamic sector. We’re looking forward to welcoming a line-up of leading ocean experts, sharing their wealth of scientific, technological and engineering expertise at one of the busiest shows in the sector calendar.”

All training and demonstration sessions are free to attend. Visitors can book slots on a first-come, first-served basis at the event or in advance by contacting the company hosting the session.
