Ocean Numerics Partners with CLS

Ocean Numerics has announced a partnership agreement with CLS (Collecte Localisation Satellites). CLS was established in 1986 as a subsidiary of CNES (the French Space Agency) and IFREMER (the French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea). This partnership will greatly enhance capabilities for Ocean Numerics; in particular, CLS expertise in satellite altimetry will be an important component in the advanced systems used for assimilating data into Ocean Numerics ocean circulation models.
CLS operates satellite-based location, data collection and Earth observation systems. The company is well known for the ARGOS system, which it operates and promotes. It also operates the DORIS high-precision satellite orbit determination and location system.
CLS will form a three-way partnership with existing parent companies Fugro GEOS and the Nansen Environmental and Remote Sensing Center (NERSC). Fugro GEOS provides commercial oceanographic and meteorological support services to the oil and gas industry, whilst the Nansen Center offers numerical modelling and analysis capabilities, together with expertise in polar oceanography and climate change.
