Offshore Survey Award

The organisers of Offshore Survey 2007 Conference, held in Southampton in March 2007, have announced the award for best presentation. Delegates were asked to vote for the winner, having received conference proceedings on CD. He is David Whitcombe of Shell, whose paper focused on improving recruitment, training and retention of personnel in the offshore survey industry.

As a result of the presentation, a working group has now been formed by representatives across the industry to address this issue. The prize - a brass and leather bound telescope - was awarded on the basis of votes cast by the delegates at the Conference.

The prize was handed over at a meeting of the Offshore Survey & Positioning Group held in Aberdeen on 11 July 2007 on the first meeting of the working group formed after the Offshore Survey Conference.
