Online Distribution Channel for SHOM
On 18 March 2014, SHOM launched its online distribution space: diffusion.shom.fr. An interactive selection feature allows the products to be visualised and selected conveniently. The platform presents information about the contents and use of the products in the product description area.
There are three categories :
- Products : personal and professional users can download all digital products of SHOM (bathymetry, cartography, nautical information, tidal and current information, general hydrography)
- Services : specific requests can be sought, like tidal predictions, a tool to create maritime maps
- Expertise : professional users can know about specific knowledge and experience in SHOM assisting them with specific requests.
The digital nautical maps now are available online and can be downloaded instantly. The raster charts are the image of paper charts, that can be downloaded unlimited during 12 months after the date of purchase, allowing to obtain corrected versions. Doing so, they can fulfil the obligation to carry paper nautical charts on board of pleasure yachts up to 24m.
Vector charts (ENC in S-57 format) are also available online and can be downloaded 12 months after initial purchase.
