OSIL Supplies Metocean Monitoring Package for GEMS in West Africa

OSIL has supplied a package of metocean instruments to GEMS International for a long-term 13-month oceanographic and meteorological measurement contract for an oil major in West Africa.
The equipment included YSI 600 OMS sensors for monitoring turbidity, SonTek Triton wave gauges and SonTek Argonaut XR (Extended Range) current meters. These were all fitted to OSIL-designed subsea mooring frames, complete with Sonardyne location transponders. The SonTek Argonaut XR current meters include a compass/tilt sensor, pressure sensor and temperature sensor, which together with the YSI 600 OMS turbidity sensor and SonTek wave gauges make the XR the centrepiece of the metocean data-collection system.
