Quick-release Oceanographic Instrument Clamp
The Quick-Clamp is a system for attaching instruments to mooring lines. Designed by the National Oceanography Centre, UK, the instrument is manufactured under license by Elkins Oceanic Services Ltd and sold by Planet Ocean. It allows quick installation and release of instruments on steel wire moorings, which means that moorings can be wound on and off winches more quickly, thus saving time and money as well as improving safety.
The system incorporates a simple but robust locking mechanism operated by one hand using a convenient, large push button release. The only preparation required is the fitting of small swage lock or screw on ferrules on the cable at the positions required.
Clamps are supplied to fit a range of instrument sizes up to 100mm in diameter, although larger instruments can be considered to special order.
