Radars for Tsunami Observation

Helzel Messtechnik has formed a business tie-up with Kokusai Kogyo Co., Ltd., the biggest aerial survey company in Japan. While the application of radars is extending to high-precision sea area and tsunami observation, both companies will promote technical development to respond to the diverse requests and jointly try to open up a new market in Asia.

Kokusai Kogyo already established a cooperative system with Nagano Japan Radio Co., Ltd., a pioneer in the field of ocean radars. However, in view of the worldwide expansion of usage, Helzer Messtechnik are certain to meet diverse needs in Japan and abroad with their WERA Remote Ocean Sensing System.

Kokusai has been engaged in the research and development of ocean radars for more than ten years. The company's radars have been used for ocean observation from the coasts of Tokyo Bay, Osaka Bay, Ise Bay, and many other places, accounting for the largest share in the Japanese market. The first joint performance will be during the Techno-Oceans 2008 in Kobe (Japan) in April 2008.
