RESON SeaBat 8101

The Bristol Port Company has completed the installation of a RESON SeaBat 8101 multi-beam echo sounder system on its survey vessel SV Isambard Brunel. The system comprises a TSS MAHRS; RESON Data Acquisition and Processing system, along with acoustic seabed classification software to be used with the multi-beam data. The SeaBat 8101 is providing The Bristol Port Company with daily hydrographic bathymetry charting data, meeting the demanding standards set out by the IHO. In addition to complying with the 100% seabed coverage recommended by the Port Marine Safety Code the SeaBat will be used to carry out routine collection of valuable data for quay wall, suspended jetties and lock-wall inspections. In addition to engineering data, the SeaBat is also providing the port with information to enhance its dredge monitoring operations.
Port of London
The Port of London has recently purchased a RESON Seabat 8101 multi-beam echo sounder sytem. By using swath bathymetry the Port of London will not only be able to more effectively conduct routine re-survey work but will also be in a position to monitor proposed dredging campaigns in the Thames Estuary. The additional detail afforded by the multi-beam will also contribute to a better understanding of the physical and historic environment in the Thames. The SeaBat 8101 was installed along with an Applanix POS MV Position and Orientation system.
