SBG Systems launches Stellar-40 INS for mission-critical applications

SBG Systems has expanded its product portfolio with the launch of the modular and scalable inertial navigation system, Stellar-40. It is specially designed for demanding environments and mission-critical applications across land, air and marine platforms.

At its core, Stellar-40 combines a tactical-grade IMU, a GNSS receiver and advanced sensor fusion algorithms in a compact and rugged enclosure. This solution is built to deliver reliable navigation performance where it matters most: in high-vibration, high-dynamics and electronically challenging conditions.

Two central objectives

The development of Stellar-40 was guided by two central objectives: resilience in harsh conditions and production scalability. To tackle the vibration sensitivity common in defence and industrial applications, SBG Systems engineered a three-level mitigation architecture – dampers at the IMU sensor level, a resonance-free enclosure and custom external dampers that isolate the unit from harsh vehicle dynamics. The result is stable, dependable navigation performance even in the most punishing operational environments.

Beyond mechanical robustness, Stellar-40 is built to meet the realities of modern electronic warfare. The system incorporates a high-performance GNSS receiver with active mitigation against advanced jamming and spoofing threats. When GNSS signals are degraded or unavailable altogether, Stellar-40 draws on multi-sensor fusion and dead-reckoning capabilities to maintain navigation continuity – ensuring that loss of signal does not mean loss of situational awareness.

High-end resilience

Positioned as the heavy-duty counterpart to SBG Systems' Ekinox Micro, Stellar-40 introduces a revised mechanical and electronic design intended to simplify both integration and manufacturing. The system is well suited for defence programmes, robotics platforms, UAVs and autonomous systems that require compact, scalable navigation solutions – and has been designed with large-scale production firmly in mind.

With the introduction of Stellar-40, SBG Systems continues to strengthen its range of inertial navigation solutions for professional and industrial applications, delivering what the company describes as high-end resilience against vibrations, jamming and spoofing in a system that operational teams can rely on in real-world conditions.
