SeaZone – a Shared Vision

The UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO) and Metoc plc are delighted to announce the formation of SeaZone Solutions Limited. SeaZone is a joint venture between Metoc and Admiralty Holdings Limited (AHL) - a company wholly owned by the Secretary of State for Defence and operated on his behalf by the UKHO.
SeaZone will deliver UKHO Hydrospatial and other UK and overseas agencies’ data to the worldwide Geographical Information (GI) market. In addition, SeaZone will provide enabling tools, consultancy and training services to support the use of coastal and offshore environmental data in Geographical Information Systems (GIS), CAD and other systems.
The initial target area for SeaZone will be the energy, sea-bed exploration and coastal zone management markets – good news for engineers, scientists, planners and developers. This will provide these sectors with authoritative baseline data for use in asset management, decision-making and environmental modelling applications.
The Joint Venture continues a long and close relationship between Metoc and the UKHO. Metoc became the UKHO’s first licensed partner when the organisation launched a Licensed Partnering Programme in 2002. In June 2003, the brand name, SeaZone, was launched to provide ready-for-use GIS data from the UKHO and other agencies. The client list for this service has grown, attracting more than130 customers in the past year. The client base ranges from government departments to commercial companies.
The Board of the new company will comprise Dr Mike Osborne (Director of Metoc), Kevin Deeming (Managing Director of Metoc) and Robert Moss (Director of UKHO and Admiralty Holdings Limited).
