Second World ECDIS Day Scheduled

As the maritime world continues to evolve, it faces new issues which will set the scene for this year’s World ECDIS Day on 20 September 2017 in Hamburg, Germany - the city where ECDIS received the first type approval 18 years ago. World ECDIS Day is a celebration of a navigation tool and a gathering of professionals dedicated to Electronic Chart Display Information Systems (ECDIS) and digital navigation, a chance to evaluate the history and development of ECDIS as well as delving into the future of ECDIS.

In September 2015 the first edition of this non-profit initiative was supported by a large number of industry leaders. More than 200 ship managers, stakeholders and other industry figureheads shared experiences and viewpoints in the form of live panel discussions, workshops and related seminars. The day was a success and finished with an evening reception and award ceremony to honour the most remarkable personalities and teams for their contributions to the industry.
