SIG Boomer on Yangtze River

SIG France has announced the delivery of a new SIG Pulse S1 boomer system to the Changjiang Institute of Survey Planning Design and Research (CISPDR). CISPDR is a state-owned enterprise subordinated to the Changjiang Water Resources Commission of the Chinese Ministry of Water Resources. It has been involved in two important hydraulic projects: the Three Gorges project and the South-to-North Water Diversion project.

The commissioning has just been performed on the Yangtze River, in Wuhan. The geophysical team of CISPDR has been trained by Kim Ola of Meridata, Finland. The SIG Pulse S1 is a small 300-joules energy source, which can drive boomer or sparker sound sources. Portability makes the system ideal for any boat or opportunity vessel used in shallow waters and river surveys.

Meridata and related Chinese agent EPC carried out the integration of the SIG Pulse S1 boomer into a complete system employing several hydro-acoustic methods and frequencies used in parallel to map the river bottom and sub-bottom.  These included Meridata software for data acquisition synchronisation and processing.
