Simrad Navigation for Song of The Whale

Simrad, UK, has supplied a complete navigation suite for the new Song of the Whale research vessel, which embarked on sea trials off the coast of Southampton last week. Owned by the International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW), Song of the Whale replaces the eponymous original vessel, which has been in service since 1987 and has voyaged over 250,000 miles. The new Song of the Whale is a 70ft-long research and education platform that has been in planning for over a decade and under construction at Blondecell shipyard in Southampton for over two years. The finished vessel has become one of the most state-of-the-art research vessels on the oceans today and is set to continue IFAW research and education work to protect endangered whales and other marine mammals.
