Solar-Powered AUVs Contract

Falmouth Scientific, Inc. has received another sub-contract award from the New Hampshire based Autonomous Undersea System Institute (AUSI) for two more Solar Powered AUVs (SAUVs) for the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The solar-powered vehicle has unlimited endurance, with capability for swimming at speeds of 3Kts and diving to 500 metre depths. The SAUV includes an FSI NXIC based Conductivity, Temperature, and Depth (CTD) sensor and has the space and power required to accommodate a variety of scientific payload packages, depending upon user requirements. The two ONR-systems will include a communications package consisting of integrated satellite, RF and underwater acoustic comms.
