Successful Sea Trials For SIG Pulse M2 Sparker

Guangzhou Waterway Bureau, China, has approved the performance of the new SIG Pulse M2. The sparker system has been tested on the site of the bridge project that will connect the west side of Hong Kong to Macau and the mainland Zhuhai. The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau bridge will cross the Pearl River estuary. Part of the project is a sub-sea immersed tunnel of 6.7km. The project area must be covered by a seismic reflection sparker.

The SIG Pulse is the lightest system available on the market to install and operate on board any geophysical vessel or vessel of opportunity. The energy output can be tuned between 100 and 2,000 joules. No large generator necessary, with just a 4.7kW, 20A. The seismic receiver is a SIG 16 streamer of 12 hyrophones, adapted for this type of environment. The data acquisition software was a SonarWiz.MAP 5, integrated by Shanghai Geo-Marine-Tech, who represents both SIG France and Chesapeake Technology in China.
