Swathe Services Secures MDL Reseller Status at Oceanology

At Oceanology International 2014, Swathe Services secured reseller status for MDL, part of Renishaw. These mobile Lidar scanners use one or more rotating laser heads which allows for full 360° scanning with no ‘blind spots'. With the lack of internal moving parts, these systems are inherently very robust in the marine environment.

MDL, part of Renishaw plc, is a manufacturer of high-speed laser measurement systems for use in extreme environments. Swathe Services has been granted reseller status to sell the Dynascan M250 and S250 products in the UK.

MDL UK/Rest of World business manager Mark Reid said he was looking for resellers who share the company’s values and are committed to offering product solutions and services that help customers increase their productivity. MDL is undergoing a programme of strengthening the distribution network across the world. Swathe Services is seen as a great addition given its strong presence in the marine industry. He added that Swathe will also benefit from MDL’s recent acquisition by Renishaw in terms of world-class support, servicing and the development of some new products in the pipeline.

James Williams, managing director for the Swathe Group of companies, commented that after putting a demo system through its paces on one of their commercial multi-beam training courses it was evident that the system was very easy to set up, calibrate and operate with minimal training. The system was robust, made to a high standard of quality and would fit extremely well with Swathe Services’ existing portfolio.
