Tarbit Shipping Signs With BASS to Enhance Maritime Safety
BASS has signed an agreement with Swedish-based Tarbit Shipping AB for the delivery of SAFIR, an advanced software solution designed to optimise the administration of reporting undesired events at sea. Tarbit will also utilise the system further by including internal audits, inspections and other company specific procedures.
Tarbit Shipping AB will install SAFIR in their office in Skärhamn, Sweden and onboard their fleet. In addition to the SAFIR basic modules, SAFIR will be linked to INSJÖ, a database created by The Swedish Safety Maritime Inspectorate and the Swedish Shipowners Association to help Swedish shipowners share information on accidents, incidents, near-misses and non-conformities. By integrating SAFIR with INSJÖ, Tarbit will be able to transfer information seamlessly from SAFIR into the INSJÖ database.
SAFIR (Safety Information Reporting) is a software solution designed to enable users to report and systematically analyse un-desired events to ensure that company staff and crew members can learn and share information. SAFIR has been developed as a tool to help shipowners and ship managers avoid accidents and protect lives, environment and property at sea. SAFIR has been developed in full compliance with Section 9 of ISM CODE, ISPS Code, ISO 9000 and ISO 14000.
