TDI-Brooks Begins Coring Programme in Brazil for TGS

TDI-Brooks International (under contract to TGS) has deployed the R/V 'Proteus' to Brazil to begin an offshore coring programme with advanced geochemistry analysis. The programme in Brazil follows the successful Gigante and Otos programmes in 2016-2017 in the Gulf of Mexico. The multi-client programme in Brazil will span over four months for the 'Proteus', to include 330 Piston Cores, 33 JPCs and 33 HF sites, with a second phase to start in early 2019. The 'Proteus' will be available on the spot market for projects in Brazil during the fourth quarter of this year.

The 2016-2017 programmes covered approximately 289,000 km2 with TDI-Brooks executing over 250 navigated piston cores with 750 baseline petroleum advanced geochemistry analysis, 140+ 20m Jumbo Piston Cores (JPC) for stratigraphic analysis and age dating and 150 heat flow (HF) flow measurements for basin modelling.

Environmental Baseline Surveys

TDI-Brooks have a major focus on Environmental Baseline Surveys (EBS) offshore Mexico over the past 24 months. In 2017, they conducted EBS projects for Chevron (Block. 3), Total (Block. 2) and BHP at the Trion development all in the Perdido area. This year so far the company has conducted EBS projects for Total (Block. 15, shallow water), Petronas (Block. 6, shallow water) and Chevron (Block. 22, deep-water) with three upcoming EBS projects for DEM in blocks 30, 16 and 17. TDI-Brooks will follow on to BP’s Block 34. Their next availability for EBS acquisition in Mexico is after completion of the three DEM blocks in the beginning of September. The company is also available in that time frame for site survey acquisition.

The R/V Gyre will arrive in the Caribbean & West Africa regions in the 4th quarter with the R/V Brooks McCall working on programmes in the GOM for GERG, BSEE, BOEM, NOAA and back at OTOS for TGS.
