Teledyne Marine and M Subs sign MOU to accelerate maritime solutions

To pursue and execute business opportunities within the UK Royal Navy and international naval markets, Teledyne Marine and M Subs have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a strategic collaboration. The partnership will harness the complementary strengths of Teledyne Marine, a world-leading provider of unmanned underwater vehicles and marine instrumentation, and M Subs, a pioneering UK-based developer of uncrewed marine systems and autonomy solutions.

By integrating their respective expertise in vehicle platforms, autonomy, sonars, acoustic communications, imaging systems and subsea connectivity, the alliance is poised to deliver next-generation solutions that address the evolving demands of modern maritime operations. This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to innovation and excellence in supporting naval and defence applications worldwide.

Efforts are already underway on cooperation, with Teledyne SeaBat multibeam sonars successfully integrated and demonstrated on Zero USV platforms at REPMUS 2025. In addition, work has commenced on the deployment of Slocum gliders and Osprey class AUVs from Zero USV systems, with demonstrations in the UK and Iceland planned in Q1 and Q2 of this year.

Shared vision to advance maritime technology

The new partnership between Teledyne and M Subs is built on a shared vision to advance maritime technology, starting with a strong focus on supporting the UK Royal Navy. Together, they will drive forward key initiatives like Atlantic Bastion and MHC Block 2, drawing on their extensive experience and established presence in the UK.

Beyond these flagship programmes, the collaboration extends to joint business development, where both companies will actively seek out and pursue opportunities on a global scale. Their combined expertise will also fuel innovation in uncrewed systems and autonomy, ensuring that their solutions remain at the forefront of maritime applications.

Brian Maguire, Teledyne Marine COO and vehicles general manager, stated: “This collaboration represents a significant step forward in advancing maritime technologies. By combining our expertise, we aim to deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving needs of the UK and international markets.”

Brett Phaneuf, director of M Subs, added: “It has been a pleasure to work with Teledyne to integrate the myriad sensors and devices they bring to bear on the marine and defence space; they have proved nimble and forward-leaning in our work together – necessary qualities from flagship companies partnered with small SMEs for us to be successful in the future when serving the nation. It has also been a great deal of fun!”

The partnership between Teledyne and M Subs is set to drive innovation and deliver impactful and operationally relevant solutions with high technology-readiness levels for defence and commercial applications.
